Engagement and results can grow when people are set free to choose, decide, and take responsibility
If you want to improve your organization, get more value out of your efforts, and more engagement from your people, we would like to offer you help to self-help through a free discovery session.
We offer a free one-hour session to organizations examining how they could start with small steps on the road less traveled toward better results and engagement. The session is for a team of your choice and consists of answering five easy “W” steps:
- What characterizes the current situation? And how did we get here?
- Where would we have liked to be now? And where absolutely not?
- What objectives and goals are appropriate, armed with this insight?
- What small practical steps can be taken to contribute to the objectives?
- Work out a prioritized backlog of interventions.
The result is a draft plan on how to start the journey. The organization is free to evaluate, refine, and decide its course of action. The goal is to achieve tangible results fast and build confidence in the values and principles of creating freedom to engage and take responsibility.
The proposed process is a scaled-down combination of “The Future Backwards”, “Impact Estimation,” and based on the “OODA Loop” (Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act) thinking, as it is described in our book “Liberating Organizations”. It is a proven and tested way to get a team aligned very quickly with a common mental model and a solid understanding of the immediate interventions possible. The result of the workshop is two artifacts or displays, visualizing the Team’s common understanding of the situation at hand and the evolutionary potential in the present – the objectives and strategies.
Result of the Future Backwards workshop method, with derived objectives.
Result of Impact Estimation Objectives versus Strategies and the contribution of these.
In the end, it is your job to act in order to improve; this is just help to self-help. If this sounds interesting or just intriguing, please do not hesitate to contact us for further discussion or a workshop appointment.
